The Trouble With Cherries
Can a mother and daughter build a website together? Not without casualties.
Mother likes vintage..daughter likes trendy. Mother writes bullet points...daughter writes run-ons. Daughter is tech savvy...mother deletes the Home Page. Twice.

Mother wants to use THIS photo as the website header:
Daughter says: You know Mom, people can TELL those are Maraschino cherries. And we don't eat those.
Mother: but we've got to have cherries in the photo...and cherries are not in season. I just bought three jars of these things at $3 a piece, and you're telling me we can't use them?
Daughter: Sorry.
Mother: Well, Miss Smarty, what do you suggest we do with them now? We can't eat them.
Daughter: Sorry.
Mother: Well, Miss Smarty, what do you suggest we do with them now? We can't eat them.
Daughter: We could feed them to the kids.
Mother: You want to give those kids Red Dye #40 PLUS 100 grams of sugar? Don't you want them to sleep? This week? I don't think so...
(Daughter's face reddening).
Mother: Maybe I could Photoshop the cherries, so they don't look so...Maraschino-like...

Mother: Maybe I could Photoshop the cherries, so they don't look so...Maraschino-like...
Daughter: Um...no. They obviously still look like Maraschino cherries, Mom. That will never work.
(Mother's jaw tightens).
Mother: You know how you sometimes have trouble backing out of the garage at night? I'm pretty sure these cherries glow in the dark.
We could line them up on either side of the driveway, like little beacons of light, so you don't back over the flower beds....AGAIN.
Daughter: You know what? I have a better idea...

In the end, a website emerges...somehow. And mother and daughter learn something about compromise. And their love is deepened because of it.
